'Liquid Detected' in the Charging Port? What to Do
The 'Liquid Detected' warning is your phone protecting itself: charging a wet port can short the phone and corrode the connector. Annoying — but it is saving your phone. Here is how to get through it safely.
Fix it now — the free tool takes about a minute.
Open the Speaker CleanerWhat to do
- Unplug the charger at once. Do not keep re-plugging to 'check'.
- Tap the phone gently, port facing down, to shake out water.
- Leave it in open air, ideally near a fan, for at least 30 minutes — a few hours is better. The warning clears when the port is truly dry.
- In a real emergency, most phones offer an 'emergency override' charge option. Use it only if you must, and stop if the phone gets warm.
What NOT to do
Do not blow into the port (your breath adds moisture), do not poke tissues or pins inside (they leave fibres and bend contacts), and do not use a hair dryer. Patience and air are the fix.
The speaker connection
If the port got wet, the speaker grille probably did too — that is why your sound is muffled. While the port dries, run the Water Eject tool for the speaker (it needs no charging, just battery). One splash, two fixes.
Ready? Clean your speaker now.
